Children learn what a “pillar” means and why Islam is described as built on five. They learn the names of the five pillars in Arabic and English, and then begin with the Shahadah: belief in one God, Allah, and in Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as His messenger. They practise saying it and understand what it means.
Children learn the names and times of the five daily prayers, why Muslims pray, the basics of wudu, and the main movements of prayer. They then learn that Zakat is a duty to share part of our wealth with people in need, and how it differs from voluntary charity (sadaqah).
Children learn what fasting means from dawn to sunset, why Muslims fast in Ramadan, and about suhoor, iftar, and who is excused from fasting. They then learn what Hajj is, who must perform it, and why Muslims travel to the Kaaba, with a simple walk through its main steps.
Children review all five pillars, ask questions, and explain each pillar in their own words. The teacher links each one to family routines such as prayer times and Ramadan, so the lessons carry over into daily life.
